Upon arrival
Should you arrive on a weekday, the IER staff members or your Wakayama University academic advisor will take you to the City Hall to apply for an Alien Registration Card and National Health Insurance(it is mandatory and cost about 10,000 yen for 6 months) shortly after picking you up at JR Wakayama Station. The processing time for the card usually takes two weeks.
