Wakayama University Kinan Satellite
Because there are very few secondary schools in the southern part of Wakayama Prefecture, Wakayama University has established a Satellite within the Wakayama Prefectural Information Exchange Center ("BigU" on the outskirts of Tanabe City. Using this facility as a base, and acting as the Secondary Education division, the Kinan Satellite offers courses for Wakayama University Graduate School Master's Programs (independent courses mainly in the Graduate School of Economics, provided with the assistance of instructors from the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Systems Engineering, and the Center for Education and Research of Lifelong Learning), and Wakayama University's general education courses (Master's Program). It also offers disaster prevention education and conducts operations aimed at revitalizing the Kinan Region as part of the activities of the Lifelong Learning / Regional Collaboration Operations Division. The Kinan Satellite is a satellite base for transmitting information from Wakayama University to the Kinan region of Wakayama Prefecture, and for transmitting information from the Kinan region to the rest of the world.
