[Event report] Joint Student Symposium on Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Research

AY2020 Joint Student Symposium on Tourism, Hospitality and Leisure Research was held online on January 23, 2021. This annual event started in Academic Year 2018 on the initiative of academics at Wakayama University and Ritumeikan Asia Pacific University to create a platform for students studying tourism at universities in Japan to share their research ideas and seek feedback from their peers in English.
CTR researcher, Dr. Hayato Nagai and CTR Visiting Fellow, Dr. Hiroaki Saito (Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University) served as co-chairs of this year’s symposium. And the Faculty of Tourism and CTR, Wakayama University supported the event. Students from the Faculty of Tourism presented their research and they also contributed to the evet operation as volunteers. CTR researcher, Dr. Adam Doering moderated a panel discussion and CTR Visiting Junior Fellow and our former student at the Graduate School of Tourism, Wakayama University, Mr. Tsz Hei Kong (PhD student, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University) joined one of the panel discussion panelists.
About 80 participants from 5 universities across Japan attended, and 41 oral presentations were delivered online.
